The Space in Time Revisited, 2024

Sculptural works and durational performance piece
This work recovered the sewn objects from my initial project ‘The Space in Time’, that was created over lockdown in 2019, where I had spent over 100 hours sewing an abudance of my belongings in recycled white cotton as a creative way to cope with the limbo period of COVID. After 5 years of these objects having been left to collect dust I wanted to activate them by exhibiting the pieces and unpicking them from their material cocoon.
They were exhibited at Greatorex Street Gallery, in Whitechapel for 2 days and unpicked, in my 3 hour performance on the last day, where I invited visitors to take a blade and unpick alongside me whilst conversating about objects, memory, isolation and freedom.
Many thanks to photographer Niamh Quigley and curator Lily Petch.
